The Community Has Spoken: What You Want in the Neighbourhood Plan

Hertford Heath Neighbourhood Plan

We understand residents’ concerns about the village’s growth and its potential strain on existing services and infrastructure. That’s why we’re committed to responsible development that benefits the entire community. While new housing is important, it should never come at the cost of current residents’ well-being. Our priority is to ensure that expansion enhances the quality of life for everyone in the village.

At Barclay Grange, we’re thrilled to present our evolving plans for Hertford Heath given that the Parish Council are now considering residents views on community benefits. We’ve listened carefully to your feedback, and we’re dedicated to delivering the community benefits that you’ve asked for. Our vision aligns with your vision of the Neighbourhood Plan, aiming to create a better village for everyone and not just housing.

Community Benefits: The Heart of Our Plan

Your input during the Parish Council Neighbourhood Plan consultation was essential. You told us what matters most, and our mission has always been to turn those priorities into reality. While we understand that past misinformation may have left you feeling uncertain, we’re here to reassure you that Barclay Grange is about making Hertford Heath an even better place to live. These community benefits will be guaranteed as part of the masterplan and will be a binding commitment to ensure they are delivered for residents.

What We Heard, What We’re Doing:

  • Community Hub: We’re planning a versatile ‘Hub’ building right alongside the new homes. This space is designed to evolve with the village’s needs.
  • General Store (and more!): 94% of residents who responded to the NHP questionnaire want a new convenience shop, and we’re delivering! Our plans include a dedicated space for a general store, with the potential to house other essential services like a Post Office reducing the need to travel to neighbouring towns whilst fostering a more dynamic community.
  • Community cafรฉ/tearoom: A tearoom offering a tranquil escape and a chance to connect with other residents.
  • Medical Facility:ย Your feedback highlighted the need for better healthcare access. We are committed to exploring the creation of a medical facility within Barclay Grange, collaborating closely with authorities to make this a reality.

Village Survey results shows strong support for new businesses with less than 1% of residents oppose.

Flexibility is Key: Your Village, Your Choice

Our focus is on serving Hertford Heath! If a separate medical facility proves challenging, we’re committed to adapting the hub space to meet other community needs, such as childrens creche etc. Being the only proposal that is able to offer a centrally located community hub, we are keen to work with the community to adapt the proposal to what is desirable and achievable to meet your apirations.

Development can be positive, but it needs to be balanced. It’s unfair to expect existing residents to bear the brunt of inadequate infrastructure. We understand that developers have a responsibility to work with communities, ensuring that growth brings improved quality of life, not just more houses.

Let Your Voice Be Heard! This development and the neighbourhood plan is about YOU! We invite you to continue shaping the future of Barclay Grange. Please share your thoughts with us and the Parish Council on the amenities that would most improve your life in Hertford Heath.
